Give with care: protect dignity before you donate
A donation can take seconds. The care should begin before payment, with some thought for the person who will receive it.
The Quran speaks directly about how charity is given. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:262 praises people who do not follow their gifts with reminders or hurt. The next verse places a kind word and forgiveness above charity followed by injury. How we treat the recipient is part of the gift.
Protect the recipient's privacy
When sharing a donation online, stick to the verified need and explain why you chose to help. Leave out names, photographs, medical details, and family circumstances unless the person has freely agreed to share them.
The Quran also gives private charity an explicit place. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:271 commends concealing charity given to people in need. If publicity serves no clear purpose, keep the gift private.
Give something fit to receive
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:267 tells believers to give from the good things they have acquired. It warns against giving something they would accept only with reluctance.
Before donating goods, check their condition, cleanliness, expiry date, and usefulness. Do not leave the recipient to sort through unusable items. For a financial gift, read the designation and amount before confirming payment so the record matches your intention.
Remove any unnecessary personal details, then check the item or amount once more. When you are ready, you can use Ruhama's giving form.
