What the Zakat Checkbox Does

Ruhama's donation form includes a checkbox labelled "This is Zakat." Selecting it records your donation as Zakat through checkout and shows a Zakat acknowledgement on the confirmation page.

What the checkbox records

The box starts unchecked. When you select it, the checkout record receives a Zakat marker. Your chosen donation amount and payment frequency stay the same.

The checkbox does not calculate how much Zakat you owe or assess whether a payment fulfils your obligation. Those decisions come before checkout.

What to settle first

Check your calculation, make your intention, and consider whether the payment can reach an eligible recipient. Surah At-Tawbah 9:60 names the categories for Zakat distribution. Questions about assets, debts, eligibility, or timing may need advice from a qualified scholar.

Ruhama's Zakat guides offer a starting point for further study.

Review the separate choices

The form also asks for a cause, an amount, and a payment frequency. Optional admin support appears as a separate choice and a separate line item at checkout. Review each figure before paying, especially when you have calculated a specific sum for Zakat.

Use the checkbox when you want the donation recorded as Zakat. Keep the confirmation with your own Zakat records.
