How Ruhama handles it

Giving Zakat Through Ruhama

How Zakat donations are marked, separated, verified, distributed, and reported back.

Ruhama receives Zakat as a trust. The donor marks the payment as Zakat, and we handle it differently from general donations.

Our goal is simple: deliver Zakat to eligible families with care, dignity, and clear records.

You mark the intention

At checkout, mark your donation as Zakat. That records your intention and lets us separate the funds immediately.

If you are unsure whether your payment should be Zakat or sadaqah, ask before giving.

We verify eligibility

Local team members review the family situation before Zakat funds are released.

Most Ruhama Zakat recipients are widows, orphans, and families who qualify as poor or needy.

We keep delivery practical

Families may receive cash, food, school fees, medical support, rent support, or another direct benefit based on need.

Zakat is not used as a vague program label. It is tied to eligible people.

We keep admin separate

When donors opt in to cover admin costs separately, that support helps keep Zakat focused on recipient benefit.

We also aim to distribute Zakat within the same Islamic year it was collected.

Practical checklist

  • Mark the donation as Zakat at checkout.
  • Use sadaqah for general support if you are not intending Zakat.
  • Contact us if your Zakat case is unusual.
